Based on example code provided in AN4466 I've written a simple memory calibration script for ARM DS-5 that runs same steps and prints out results for DQS, read and write calibration. This script can be run on new boards in order to find optimum calibration settings for the memory controller. Prior to running this script it is necessary to run standard memory initialization script! When bringing up new board: obtain default memory initialization script for memory type you're using (for example from DDR stress tester package) and modify the memory controller settings according to memory device you are going to use. run DDR stress tester with the given configuration on target frequency you're going to use to make memory works with given settings (default values for calibration are  fine in most cases unless there's issues with PCB and/or routing). run memory init script and then the attached script to obtain calibrated values. The refine to TV mode of R10.3.1 causes dual video function fail. The attached patch recovers dual video function. Attached dual_video.patch only work for RGB output (HDMI support). For legacy TVout (YUV output), the extra patch is necessary, see the attached "legacy_tvout.zip". Refer to Dual video with single UI on i.MX53 SMD with Android R10.4  for setup.

Issue: On i.MX 6Solo designs using LPDD2 memory, the correct settings for two important registries may be confusing to determine. Solution: 1) MMDCx_MDMISC register, LPDDR2_2CH Field: For the i.MX 6Solo processor, this field should always be set to '0'. Reason: Two channel mode is not possible on this processor. Only channel MMDC0 is connected to external pins. 2) IOMUXC_SW_PAD_CTL_PAD_DRAM_RESET register, DDR_SEL Field: For the i.MX 6Solo processor, this field should always be set to "00". Reason: A DRAM Warm Reset requires a response from MMDC1, which is not connected externally on the 6Solo processor, so a Warm Reset never complets. These two issues will be clarified in a subsequent revision of the MCIMX6SDL Reference Manual.

This document provides the steps to patch and build a fastboot Linux System. This document assumes the BSP 3.0.35_1.1.0 and a  i.MX6Q platform. For more information about what the patches do, please check this link. Install LTIB and move to the ltib folder Download the ltib patch from this document and patch it (patch -p1 < 0001-set-imx6_ssd_lite_defconfig-as-default-kernel-config.patch) Go to the LTIB configuration menu (./ltib -m config), select mx6q platform and min profile Select mx6q_sabresd as u-boot board Fetch and Patch: u-boot: Prepare u-boot source code (./ltib -m prep -p u-boot) Move to u-boot folder (cd rpm/BUILD/u-boot-2009.08) Download u-boot attached patches Patch code (for p in *.patch; do patch -p1 < $p;done) kernel: Prepare kernel source code (./ltib -m prep -p kernel) Move to kernel folder (cd rpm/BUILD/linux) Download attached kernel patches Patch code (for p in *.patch; do patch -p1 < $p;done) Build  (./ltib) Add  an application to run first after boot in rootfs/etc/inittab (see example inittab file, it captures data from the MIPI Camera) Create necessary devices nodes under rootfs/dev. For example terminal: sudo mknod ttymxc0 c 207 16 video capture nodes: sudo mknod video0 c 81 5; sudo mknod video1 c 81 6 video display nodes: sudo mknod video16 c 81 0; sudo mknod video17 c 81 1 frame-buffers: for i in 0 1 2 3 4; do sudo mknod fb$i c 29 $i; done Package rootfs (cd rootfs; sudo tar --numeric-owner -cvfj ../rootfs.tar.bz2 *; cd ..) On a windows machine, download latest Manufacturing tool and uncompress it. Move rootfs.tar.bz2, rootfs/boot/uImage and rootfs/boot/u-boot.bin into the corresponding Manufacturing folder (Profiles\MX6Q Linux Update\OS Firmware\files) Choose a sabresd-eMMC profile and flash the board Boot the board using the eMMC

FAE Title Date i.MX Device BSP Description Leo Demo uImage for iMX257 does not support EXT3 filesystem 2/May2013 257 L2.6.31_09.12.00_SDK_images_MX25 For some reason the demo uImage does not support EXT3 filesystems (ext2 is not good for SD cards). kernel has to be recompile with this feature. Xisco start-weston command doesn't work when running from SD card. Only from NFS 3/may/2013 6 RC3.0.35.4.0.0 When compiling rootfs with LTIB, there is a problem that /tmp is tmpfs but keeps the size as 512k, far from common program running requirement, and it's full when system boots up.   When executing start-weston script it needs to write to /tmp and it fails. Only happens with LTIB built BSP.   $ mount -t tmpfs /tmp /tmp        Should be run before executing start-weston Xisco Porting OpenGL ES2 cpp apps for i.MX6 7/may/2013 6 RC3.0.35.4.0.0 When porting OpenGL ES2 cpp apps that were written for i.MX53, you will find an error saying that the function :   fbGetDisplay()   needs more arguments.   All that is needed to fix this error is to change the function to:   fbGetDisplayByIndex(0)   And you will be able to compile your app. Leo Stand-alone MFG and Android MFG are not the same Wed May 15 12:15:17 CDT 2013 6 JB4.2.2_1.1.0 In case you want to flash Android, use the MFG inside the source code tarball and not the stand-alone (the one found directly on the SW & Tools tab). Seems that it takes some time for both to be sync (the same) Leo gst-ffmpeg plugins is broken Thu May 16 13:31:44 CDT 2013 6 RC3.0.35.4.0.0 Attached patch should be applied to gst-ffmpeg code Original Attachment has been moved to: 0001-gstffmpegdemux.c-Remove-deprecated-flow-macros.patch.zip

Installation, patching and building the SDK The i.MX 6 Series Platform SDK v1.1.0 does not enable neither the MMU nor L1/L2 Caches (depending on the benchmark you are running, enabling these yield much better numbers), so there is a need to patch the code to enable these. Please download the SDK from the Freescale portal and the patch attached on this document, then follow these instructions: $ tar zxvf imx6_platform_sdk_v1.1.0.tgz $ cd iMX6_Platform_SDK $ patch -p1 < 0001-add-L2-cache-enable-to-mx6-SDK-1.1.0.patch $ export PATH=$PATH:<toolchain_install_path>/bin $ ./tools/build_sdk For more help, please look at the README.pdf and documents inside the doc folder.
