Join this session for an introduction of Alango’s voice enhancement software used to create high-performance speakerphones and headphones based on NXP’s i.MX RT MCUs. You’ll learn about Extended Voice Communication Package (eVCP), a universal package adaptable to different speakerphone designs (form-factors) that provides high-grade noise reduction and seamless duplexity. In addition, you’ll learn about VoiceDefender, a four microphone voice acquisition and processing package that provides clear voice transmission for on/over ear headphones. Connected NFC tags like NXP's NTAG 5 let you use NFC-enabled smartphones as an additional GUI for any kind of machine, appliance or component. They can, but don’t need to, be made visible to the casual observer. They allow you to separate the default user interface of the unit from the secondary interface used for re-configuration or by maintenance staff. The talk will first outline the trade-off between heterogeneous architectures and more traditional approaches of using external controllers. Asymmetric Heterogeneous Architectures are found in NXPs i.MX 6SoloX, i.MX 7 and i.MX 8 SoCs. The discussion is centered around the balancing robot and an IoT use case, including live demos. In the second part of the talk, we’ll discuss the software challenges of such an architecture. We’ll focus on using the Linux frameworks remoteproc & rpmsg which are the de-facto standard frameworks used to support such architectures in various. Finally, we’ll look at the robot’s and IoT Demo Qt-based graphical application that interfaces with rpmsg to communicate with the FreeRTOS firmware.
