Functional safety awareness level one. Introduction to functional safety, what it is, why and how it is implemented. This overview session provides the building blocks for the other deep dive technical sessions within the track and ensures that all participates understand the language and context used within functional safety discussions. It will also introduce how the NXP process with BCAM7 fits with ISO 26262 and the new safety school that will be launched in 2018.

The presenter gives a detailed introduction of the NXP BLE solutions for Automotive. This session includes the description of the latest standard defined by the BT-SIG, and a clear presentation of the NXP silicon roadmap. The speaker also walks the audience through the development tools required to successfully implement a BLE communication system, with a  specific attention given to applications such as car access and tire pressure monitoring. The attendees leave this session with a call for action that helps them select the right device and quickly move into their own development environment.

Completing a production-ready smart charging or resonant converter design can be tricky, tedious, and even challenging for many engineers. 1. Purpose of this training is to discuss design of smart charging: Introduce smart power design tools to address design challenges in order to improve conversion. 2. Resonant converters: Highlight key elements a designer needs to understand in order to effectively design a resonant converter. An online based resonant converter design tool is introduced to further help resonant converter design.

Time-sensitive automotive Ethernet network can increase the precision, reliability, robustness and network security of in-vehicle network and enhance the way toward autonomous driving. The NXP SJA1105x family is one of first TSN-capable automotive Ethernet switches. It can support: IEEE® 802.1Qbv time-aware shaping and the IEEE 802.1Qci per-stream policing. During the presentation, the use cases of core TSN specifications will be discussed.

In this session you will learn how the A71CH Security IC can be used to establish a secure connection between an IoT device and Google Cloud IoT Core. This connection is established using an MQTT Bridge running across Transport Layer Security protocol (TLS). Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) are revolutionizing the industrial world. For maximal impact, AI/ML must be done close to where data is generated and the output of analysis used. It's an ideal workload for edge computing and complements NXP’s EdgeScale cloud-based device-management platform. Layerscape processors are well suited to hosting AI/ML workloads. Software from NXP and third parties helps enable developers to create industrial applications using AI/ML technology. These applications can be distributed, Layerscape-based edge nodes with endpoints performing multiple tasks including: addressing condition monitoring or first-level classification; running popular edge frameworks to deliver cloud-like services on premises, aggregating data from multiple endpoints or performing additional analysis; running cloud-based software analyzing data for long-term trends.
