In electronic systems, it is typical to have a central processing unit that interfaces with other peripheral devices, other sub-systems or the user. Often, the signals from these interconnects may be incompatible on both ends. Therefore, various semiconductor devices such as analog switches, voltage level translators and GPIO expanders are often used to bridge between the interconnects on the board. In this session, we will explore the application of these interface devices from NXP and discuss their applications in various customer systems.

When choosing the NFC device for a new design, the system architect must consider many parameters. Usually a strong focus is put on hardware specific aspects like the environment, possible antenna size, performance and interface. To avoid unpleasant surprises during software implementation phase, software has to be taken into account as well from the beginning. Different NFC IC categories (NFC Frontends, NFC Controller, Connected Tag) have different strengths, depending on the software environment. The way how highly integrated operating systems like Linux are structured brings both new challenges and advantages. This session examines the considerations necessary when designing in NFC in different operating systems or "bare metal" systems. It also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the different device categories in dependence of the designated environment.

This training will take a user from “out of box” to a functioning IoT system including edge devices, gateway/border router, smart phone app and cloud connectivity, then run the system through its paces to highlight a subset of common IoT capabilities. The training will leverage the NXP Modular IoT Framework using a currently shipping, fully documented, Integrated Development Experience for the exercises. Southbound connectivity between gateway and the edge devices will be Thread and ZigBee®. Device commissioning will be via NFC and BLE. Northbound connectivity from gateway to cloud will be Wi-Fi. Cloud support will be via a major cloud provider. Note: Users will be able to use their own Android or iPhone with a recent OS version.

The i.MX RT10xx MCU family leverages high performance, extensive memory options, and security features aimed at protecting your IP. IP protection is a key concern for companies developing products based on embedded devices and these concerns may seem particularly troubling when working with external memories and board level programming facilities. This webinar explores how to utilize key security features during the production process to alleviate these concerns when developing with the i.MX RT10xx MCUs. The session will showcase the Cyclone production programmers available from PEmicro, the development workflow enabling the creation of an encrypted stand-alone programming (eSAP) image with the Secure Boot Utility, and establishing a secure connection to the device for provision and programming. Presenters: Clark Jarvis, Ecosystem Product Marketer, NXP Kevin Perreault, President, PEmicro
