Overview Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are based on inputs from a variety of sensors, controlling different types of motors such as stepper motors for flaps and DC/BLDC blower fan motors. NXP broad portfolio of 32-bit, 16-bit S12, and 8-bit S08 families of microcontrollers enables designers to meet the needs of a variety of HVAC applications. System basis chips (SBCs) combine physical network connection with power management. Intelligent eXtreme switches complete the system solution for DC motor blowers. BLDC motor control requires more complex algorithms. NXP’s MagniV products combine MCU with SBC functionality, network connection, and motor control, specific drivers, into a single package, providing a cost-effective small footprint system solution. Introduction The LS1046A MPU capabilities to manage data are one of the cornerstones in its design, this makes it a perfect choice when the end-application is related to data network management. The Frame Management features enable the possibility to process big data files that later on can be distributed by the network. The LS1046A also offers up-to 3 PCIe 3.0 Lanes to connect-state-of-the-art wireless cards and one SATA 3.0 interface that can be used for high-speed storage purposes. Overview This demonstration belongs to a demo bundle of the FRWY LS1046A, it intends to showcase the performance of the board in different use cases regarding edge computing. This demo provides the user an example of the LS1046A behavior when is used as a video streamer box over the QCA M.2 Wi.Fi. card. The user can access to the video vault by using a LAN infrastructure and reproduce any video in a tablet, smartphone or smart tv. Video streaming applications, centralize the highest workload in specific single or distributed systems, leaving the end-device a low demand workload. Having single-purpose systems allows an easier upgradable storage capacity, which translates to lower costs in these devices. Introduction The FRWY LS1046A comes with the mikroBUS connector that enables the capability to connect different peripheral depending on the application's requirements. The mikroBUS intends to be used for prototyping purposes that facilitate the interconnection of several peripherals. The PN7120 I2C connection delivers a secure and trustworthy connection between both NXP products. Overview The following demo belongs to examples of different usages of the LS1046A MPU, these demonstrations will soon be part of the LSDK. This document showcase the NFC capability to provide an additional layer of security to any access area. NFC access points authorize people with a registered RFID tag to grant access to a particular area. In case the RFID tag isn’t registered or authorized, the access is restricted. The system should alert the denied access to a supervisor in order to take action. The video below shows two NFC applications that can be implemented in the LS1046A, by connecting the Mikroe-2395 module based on the NXP PN7120. This demonstration allows registering new users by entering sensitive data into a local database. The second application validates an NFC tag by comparing the tag ID, with the ones previously registered in the database. The user can access the applications using the LAN with another device like a tablet, this allows the database to be in a non-easy access location for security purposes. Introduction Overview The following demo is part of a bundle of examples that shortly will be available in the LSDK. As can be seen in the video, there is a menu for the user to select the desired demo and start testing the different approaches the FRWY LS1046A TPU is capable of executing. These examples aim to demonstrate AI/ML capability through multiple “dockerized” demos including face recognition, Industrial safety & security -MPU and TPU versions-, People counter using the CPU and a pose detection demonstration. By using the native PCIe 3.0 of the LS1046A MPU, is possible to showcase the ML frameworks offload and acceleration via Coral Tensor Processing Unit. The below video shows one of the ML examples for pose detection of a person by using a simple USB camera plugged into the LS1046A FRWY board. Using the ML frameworks from Coral Tensor, the body movements and positions are detected by using the joints as the reference for movement detection of the body. As in the video is mentioned, the performance enhancement by using the TPU versus the CPU, improves significantly the frames per second from ~5 fps to ~30 fps. Introduction LS1046A has four 32-bit/64-bit Arm® Cortex®-v8 A72 CPUs arranged as a single cluster of four cores. LS1046A shares a single 2 MB L2 with and maximum operation of 1.2 GHz, three PCI Express 3.0 controllers in a 23 mm x 23 mm package. Overview The following demo is part of a bundle of examples that shortly will be available in the LSDK. As can be seen in the video, there is a menu for the user to select the desired demo and start testing the different approaches the FRWY LS1046A TPU is capable of executing. This example intends to show the CPU performance according to CoreMark or Dhrystone metrics. This results in CoreMarks/mW or DMIPS performance running on the LS1046A. The user is able to select the number of cores to use for the test and then the results come out as Performance (Iterations/second) and Watts. This is intended to show the customers the LS1046A capabilities of pure CPU performance despite the oriented application. With a cost lower than 10 dollars per unit, the LS1046A returns 32,000 CoreMarks while consuming an average of 10 W working at 1.2 GHz. Overview Home broadband access is undergoing the biggest change since the advent of low-cost fiber. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) radio technology is bringing fiber-like speeds without the cost of digging up consumers’ yards to lay new cables. The problems associated with mmWave signal propagation have been mitigated with massive MIMO and signal processing, techniques that NXP’s Airfast modules and Layerscape Access processors have helped enable. However, as with fiber access, the challenge of bringing the broadband connection indoors has remained. The existing approach is to have a technician visit the site and route cabling and possibly power to outdoors, incurring cost, inconveniencing customers, and potentially damaging property. At the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, NXP demonstrated how its contactless power and connectivity technology overcomes this challenge. NXP’s wireless power technology efficiently transmits power through a window—one made of low-E glass, no less—from a small indoor unit mounted on the window to a corresponding outdoor unit. The same units also transmit broadband data at gigabit speeds using NXP’s wireless data-link technology based on a Layerscape Access programmable baseband processor. This innovative through-glass approach overcomes a practical and economic challenge of internet service providers and helps enhance customer satisfaction.
