Demo The Valves Controller SoC familly integrates high precision regulated valves. Through the standalone Demo called "Pendulum", we will show how our devices can control an entire hydraulyc / pneumatic system. It is composed by some proportional / digital valves and a compressor managed by using only an SPI communication. Overview The FAA now requires drone owners to register any device weighing more than 0.55 lbs. (250 g). For drones currently in the field, enforcing this new law might be problematic, as it relies on the honor system to some extent. But for new devices, NXP offers an easy enforcement method. How it Works NXP’s drone registration solution uses low-cost NFC technology to easily enforce compliance. Manufacturers could include an NFC reader within the drone housing. NXP makes this step straightforward by providing reference designs for drop-into-place design ease. Upon registration, consumers could receive an official government-issued registration certificate that comprises an NXP encrypted NFC tag in adhesive label form. Upon adhesion to the drone housing, the drone control electronics would wirelessly read the certificate. If valid, the drone microcontroller enables functionality. If not, the drone will not power up. Benefits Electronic registration provides more than just ease to government regulatory bodies, it also facilitates regulation of that drone to ensure the safety of all citizens. Upon application of the registration certificate sticker, the NFC chip inside the sticker could convey identification information to the drone microcontroller, such as the registration number, model/serial number of the drone, and its zoning classification. Because this information would now be housed with the drone, drone manufacturers could choose to broadcast select details, such as the classification information, via appropriate long-range wireless communication while in flight. Demo One of the new features that can be found on the FRDM-K82F is the FlexIO header. It’s be specifically designed to interface with the very cost-efficient OV7670 camera, and uses 8 FlexIO lines to read data from the camera. By using the FlexIO feature, it makes it easy to connect a camera to a Kinetis MCU. A demo is included with Kinetis SDK 1.3 which streams the video data from the camera to a host computer over USB     FlexIO: The FlexIO is a highly configurable module found on select Kinetis devices which provides a wide range of functionality including: • Emulation of a variety of serial/parallel communication protocols • Flexible 16-bit timers with support for a variety of trigger, reset, enable and disable conditions • Programmable logic blocks allowing the implementation of digital logic functions on-chip and configurable interaction of internal and external modules • Programmable state machine for offloading basic system control functions from CPU   All with less overhead than software bit-banging, while allowing for more flexibility than dedicated IP. Overview   Artificial intelligence, and machine learning specifically, is transforming industries from Consumer to Industrial. To date, many applications host AI/ML inferencing on conventional computers in the cloud or locally. Meanwhile, edge computing is enabling other computing workloads to move from conventional information technology (IT) to lower-cost systems close to where data is generated. Although many AI/ML workloads run fine on edge systems’ CPUs, others are more intense: either multiple AI/ML functions must run simultaneously or performance requirements (e.g., frame rates) are too great. The solution to gaining the combined benefits of AI/ML and edge computing is acceleration. At the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, NXP demonstrated the LS1046A-FRWY platform simultaneously running two or more high-intensity AI/ML functions. These include face recognition, object detection (both general and safety gear), posture recognition, and gaze detection. The scenario demonstrated is factory safety. An operator within a safety zone is monitored for attentiveness, personal protective equipment, and access control. Helping to make this possible is external acceleration based on the Google Edge TPU. Interfacing to the Layerscape LS1046A processor via its copious PCI Express ports, two M.2 TPU cards slotted in the FRWY system offload AI/ML inferencing.
