ADC Channels for safety integrity functions

Hello Team,

We received the following question:

In Document Number: S32K1XXSM, Rev. 6, 11/2020 Chapter "5.7.2.3.2.1.1 Implementation details" on page 84 is stated that:
The following S32K1xx hardware elements can be used for the safety integrity functions:
• Analog input channels ADC0_SE[0:3], ADC0_SE[6:7] and ADC0_SE[10:15]
• Analog input channels AN[11:14] of ADC0_SE[4:5], ADC1_SE[8:9] and ADC1_SE[14:15] (shared channels)
• Analog input channels ADC1_SE[0:7] and ADC1_SE[10:13]

My question is why ADC0_SE[8:9] are excluded in this list. They are suitable for dual read inputs (5.7.2.3.1.2 Double read analog inputs) so it is not clear for me why they should not be usable as single read inputs.

Please clarify this topic, as we use this channels as single read analog inputs.

Any insights will be appreciated,

Regards,

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

We don’t see any issue in using them as single-read analog inputs as long as required recommendations for single-read analog inputs are followed.

Thanks and regards,
Manibha
