FXLS93333/FXLS93230AESR2 - PSI5 communication Dear NXP Tech team, Need your support in understanding the Inertial sensor usage. We are trying to use the NXP's 2 axis/1 axis Inertial sensor FXLS93333/FXLS93230AESR2 for an Automotive airbag application . The Master is communicating with the slave sensor via PSI5 communication. We have the following queries pertaining to our application: 1 - The application manual AN12776 depicts the followings in section 7 . Does it mean that when we order a part from NXP we must make sure that sensor we obtain is additionally programmed with COMTYPE reg set to 0x01? . But the NXP part numbers are unique for the sensor parts to support multiple communication like PSI5 or SPI or I2C and others. Am I reading the application note correctly? If so, how to order / procedure in ordering the part required part. Part numbers are unique for PSI5 comm as below: 2- Can we use the sensors available( without any pre-programming ) from Mouser/Digikey and directly connect to the application to Master over PSI5 connection with default settings/configuration . 3 - What is the default configuration settings in the PSI5 com sensor for Baud rate/data byte length/ modes etc 4- Is there any EVB available to program the new sensor bought from Mouser/Digikey if required ( like UM11559 SEN-GEN6-SKT EVB ) Thanks in advance, Regards Sharma Re: FXLS93333/FXLS93230AESR2 - PSI5 communication Dear Tomas, Received FFVT programming Tool for NXLS96xx part along with user manual. Also I am exploring with different suppliers on the availability of SEN-GEN6-SKT HW board which is out of stock with many silicon suppliers. Does First Field Verification Tool , support downloading different combinations of device register configurations to NXLS96xxx ( register mapped RAM area ) multiple times and experiment for proper working. Please see below the answers to your questions.
1. The part numbers should be updated from FXLS9xxxx to NXLS96. See the updated table below with the replacement part numbers. You can find the information here: https://www.nxp.com/products/NXLS96
The NXLS96xxx part numbers, are PSI5 enabled by NXP. If you order one of these part numbers, the part can be programmed using PSI5 programming mode. Just ensure you order an NXLS96xxx part number.
2. The sensor will transmit data based on the configuration below. This is useful for evaluation, but we do not recommend using it without programming in the application because the memory is not locked and thus, the safety mechanisms are disabled.
3. Here are the default configuration details according to the datasheet (note, the bits are not programmed in the OTP, so they are still programmable by the user):
• 8 us bit time (125 kbps), normal response current • 8 self-test repeats • Data Latency relative to the time slot • Channel 0 Enabled • 16-bit data, CRC, Timeslot start = 47 us (PSI5-P16C) • 400 Hz, 4-Pole • Maximum range: high g = 700 g, medium g = 233 g • Offset cancellation enabled • Channel 1 Enabled • 16-bit data, CRC, Timeslot start = 244 us (PSI5-P16C) • 400 Hz, 4-Pole • Maximum range: high g = 700 g, medium g = 233 g • Offset cancellation enabled
4. Yes, we can provide the tool for programming. Please create a standard support ticket for that. My colleague who he can handle the ordering of the tool is currently OOO, but should be back on Monday, July 21st.
