48 MHz clock generation using external reference in KL17

Hi all,

We have designed our custom board with MKL17Z256VFM4, with 16 MHz external reference crystal.

Is it possible to generate 48 MHz using external reference clock?

Hi Felicita Mercy,

     No, you can't use the external 16Mhz crystal get 48Mhz core clock.

    Please refer to the KL17 reference manual:

    You can find the system oscillator input to the MCGOUTCLK with the CLKS choose, there has no PLL module, so the system oscillator just can be divided down, can't be doubled.

    But don't worry, if you want to use the 48Mhz core clock, you also can use the internal 48Mhz IRC.
