linux 2.6.31 kernel patch for Micron NAND MT29F1G08ABAFA(M78a)

We are using IMX25. And linux version 2.6.31. We are migrating the NAND from  Micron MT29F1G08ABADA to MT29F1G08ABAFA. The new NAND is not supported in 2.6.31 version. I need a patch that allows support of new NAND. How can I go ahead in this?

Do I need to do changes in bootloader also for this?

2.6.31 kernel is no longer supported. You can try the latest mainline kernel (4.16) on i.MX25 instead.
