Hi,

does i.MX6 SoloX allow to use SyncE ethernet ?

If not, does another i.MX chip allow it ? Or even the soon-to-be i.MX7 ?

Thanks,

Hi Xavier

unfortunately i.MX6SX, iMX7 do not support in

hardware SyncE. I am not aware of future chips

where it will be supported.

Best regards

igor

Hi Igor,

OK, I understand. Is it possible to still have SyncE by adding a different PHY, which will replace the built-in one ?

Hi Xavier

I am afraid not, because except PHY, it should be also supported by i.MX MAC.

I'm not so sure, this PHY DP83640 | PHY | Ethernet | Description & parametrics  has been used on a Sitara AM335x and make it support SyncE, which I don't think it does natively.

Would it be usable on an i.MX ?

Would adding a dedicated PCIe ethernet chip work ?
