KITPF09FRDMPGM – Wrong Board Included?

I ordered a KITPF09FRDMPGM. The delivery included the KITPF09FRDMPGM and a separate FRDM-KL25Z board.

However, I don't think the two boards are compatible, or at least I don't see how they are supposed to be connected. For example, the J21 header on the FRDM-KL25Z is mechanically in the way.

In addition, the pin headers required to plug the KITPF09FRDMPGM into the FRDM-KL25Z are missing.

Could somone please confirm whether the correct board was included with the kit? Shouldn't it look similar to the board supplied with the KITPF7100FRDMPGM?

I don’t think a video is necessary at this point. First, please note that connector J21 does not interfere with the PF09 board.

Second, please find attached the firmware for the PF09 board. I tested it on my side, and it is working correctly.

Here are my steps:

1. I've checked J21 and can confirm, there ist no contact to the upper board

2. I've downloaded your firmware file

2. I've pressed reset button and connected USB to the OpenSDA connector

3. I've copied the firmware file in the explorer drive BOOTLOADER

4. I've connected USB to KL25Z USB connector

Unfortunately, the status in the NXP GUI still keeps switching between "NOT CONNECTED" and "DISCONNECTED," and the Start button remains grayed out.

Hello,

The board included with the KITPF09FRDMPGM is the correct board. The KITPF09FRDMPGM and the FRDM-KL25Z are supplied as separate boards and are compatible when assembled as intended.

The required pin headers are not included pre-installed and must be purchased separately and soldered onto the boards. Once the appropriate headers are installed, the boards can be connected correctly.

I have tested the KITPF09FRDMPGM board without any problems, so the board itself is correct and functional.

I have now soldered on the headers. However, nothing happens when I try to connect the kit using the NXP_GUI. I also found an old kit for the PF8100 with an older FRDM-KL25Z; that one is detected. What could be wrong?

as I am a colleague from d_j:
Can you please check his question and provide us with information, which firmware is needed for this board? We both can not establish the connection as the "start" button is inactive. We both use Win11, not Win10 as suggested by the documentation.

I’m still surprised that it’s supposed to fit. The outline is different, and connector J21 interferes with the board. Should I desolder it?

Please solder female headers onto the KL25 side.

Okay, I’ve thought about it again. J21 is probably just a jumper and won't interfere with the top board if the pin headers are installed. I'll give it a try.
