Today’s Infotainment systems are an important part of the driving experience. Complexity of these systems is increasing yet OEM development schedules are being compressed to bring consumers the latest in connectivity, entertainment, and security, at the lowest possible cost. A group of industry experts will discuss: How to approach platform development (customer specific vs market segment). The winning architecture at the system and IC level (distributed vs integrated solutions)? Managing quickly changing technologies such as displays, connectivity, security? How to continue development of increasingly complex software systems. Will the Infotainment system become a cockpit electronics module? How to manage mixing infotainment and safety-related functions like cluster indicators and “convenience” ADAS features?

NXP’s latest generation of passive UHF RFID, called UCODE® DNA, can be used in Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) systems that make it easier to identify – and collect from – drivers of vehicles that aren’t properly registered. In an AVI system for vehicle registration, readers can be installed above, below, or to the side of the road. They can also be embedded in a handheld device, for use by government personnel. The tag, attached to the vehicle, uses the energy produced by the reader’s RF field, so there’s no need for a battery and the tag has a very long lifespan. Cryptography-based security minimizes errors and practically eliminates fraud. Vehicle owners (and fee collectors) can be confident that the right person is being billed, since readings are both highly accurate and highly secure.

A modern car is more than just transport, it provides comfortable heating and cooling, navigation systems, entertainment systems, and a lot of data about the car's health and performance. Including how well you are conserving fuel or when to seek service. All of this is a challenge to present to the driver and passengers, without distraction to driving, under all conditions from bright daylight to the dark of night, in any temperature. We talk about both Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) component solutions that keep your dashboard simple, readable, and helpful. Watch Video Presentation

Understanding the ARM®v8 exception level processing (EL0 through EL3) and the Generic Interrupt Controller v3 (GICv3) logic on the latest QorIQ LS series processors can be challenging outside of the pre-packaged Linux SDK environment. This presentation will look at configuring the Distributor (GICD), the Re-Distributor (GICR), the CPU interface (ICC_*_EL*), and ARM core to handle Private Peripheral (PPI) and Software Generated Interrupts (SGI). It will be useful for embedded developers writing exception handlers and for anyone confused by all the acronyms. CodeWarrior will be used to show example exception handling projects. This session will cover the different vision processing capabilities of the S32V234 automotive vision processor with a focus on the Image Sensor Processor (ISP). The presentation will demonstrate how the cost of a vision system can be cut down by using the ISP to accept raw camera input data and to process it using algorithms like debayering, white balancing, format conversion, HDR and de-noising. The aim of the session is to give an introduction to camera processing, to present the architecture of the ISP and to demonstrate how it can be programmed using a visual tool developed by NXP.

One particular wave of innovation in the world of ARM is an increase in heterogeneous CPU designs, where different classes of ARM processor are implemented on the same device. NXP are at the forefront of this wave. For example the i.MX 7 family of devices implement both a Cortex-A7 application processor and a Cortex-M4 embedded processor. In this session we will discuss the challenges that such a design brings to a developer, as well as how with DS-5, ARM gives you a powerful tool to address them.

With exponential growth in today's cloud data centers, the demand for data storage and security is exploding. Data deduplication combined with encryption is a requirement. This session will provide an overview of how NXP has developed an innovative solution using intelligent storage accelerators without having to throw expensive cores at it. The performance-per-watt and the total cost savings of this solution are formidable. This same approach has been taken in the next-generation Software Defined Storage (SDS) platform from NXP which not only solves the data dedupe and encryption problem but also the compression, RAID and traffic offload requirement of a complete scalable SDS solution.
