FreeMaster Not working with MPC57xx

Hi,

I have been trying to get the MPC57xx DEVBOARD Revision E working with the DEVKIT-MOTORGD for the past few days with no success.

1) Could someone point me to a document on how to properly set up all the jumpers?

2) Secondly and more annoyingly the FreeMaster does not work with this board for me at all. I am using the BLDC_ClosedLoopRevE_2021 Simulink software posted by an NXP employee on one of the forum questions. I have tried with both Freemaster 2.0.9 and the latest version 3.2 on two different windows machines. I have tried different baud rates and changing from Serial0 to Serial1 with no success. The code generation is successfully followed by a successful flash via Rapid Bootloader from Simulink. I have checked the firmware integrity with a simple LED flash build and I confirm that it is flashing correctly. Could someone give me a hand, I really feel like giving up on this project.

Hello @RaduR ,

Before going to the Motor Control example, I would try a simple example to confirm that both board and FreeMASTER are working. I have attached a simple Simulink example which toggles the green LED every 0.1 seconds and also displays a variable in FreeMASTER, alongside the generated code, so that you could writhe the MOT file to the board.

in terms of jumpers configuration, I can attach a picture on my own board for this particular example I have attached.

Let's first validate the FM communication and then we investigate the Motor Control example.

Hi,

I use RDVCU5775EVM evaluate board which has the MCU of MPC5775B.

I tried your demo with Simulink 2023a, and I can not detect the board, too.

the program is downloaded successfully, and the LED is flashing as wished, I set the freeMaster Config with seral2 (RXD_C and TXD_C), which is mapping to the mini USB to USB serial cable, and which is also the program download port (  so I suggest that this is the usable serial port), however, I can not detect the board with any baud rate as well.

Is there any suggestion?

Thanks for the quick reply and apologies for my late response, I've been very busy in the last period of time. Following what you said I flashed my board with the provided .mot file and tried to connect with FreeMaster and all I can say is the board is very "temperamental". Sometimes it works straight after it is powered up, sometimes it takes ages to enter to boot/run whatever firmware has flashed.

I have uploaded a video of me trying to run the provided firmware from your attachments. I confirm we have the same jumper configuration. At the beginning of the video, you can see the led flashing quite rapidly which indicates that the thing is working. After power cycling, it just does not want to start, in this period I can not connect to FreeMaster. It seems like it boot loops as from time to time you can see the led switching on for a very very brief period of time and then off as if the controller is crashing.

Could this be just me unlucky with a defective unit? I have tried it with other firmware and the issue is consistent, sometimes taking more than 10 minutes to actually run what's been flashed.
