I.mx6 dual/quad has a gc2000 gpu from vivante, vivante's engineer said GC2000/GC4000 support renderscript (http://www.socip.org/socip/speech/pdf/2-Vivante-SoCIP%202011%20Presentation.pdf),
anybody know why why I.MX6 Dual/Quad does not support renderscript? ( the datasheet says nothing about renderscript).
as many I.MX6 Dual/Quad chips will be operated by android, that is not good choice, i think.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I.MX6 Dual/Quad supports renderscripts. i.MX6X has support for Android ICS and JB. renderscript is natively supported in the Android.

Thank you very much, Prabhu.
Maybe i did not state my question clearly. Renderscript is only a runtime api from google, it can run on any platform (CPU, GPU, DSP), ICS and JB have little connection with renderscript, most of their graphic smoothness are archived by using OpenGL ES 2.0.
What i mean is why freescale did not worked with google to develop a renderscript runtime evironment which would use the GC2000 GPU for general purpose computing.
I have carefully checked the mx6 D/Q's android demo image, the renderscript runtime lib (librs.so) is the general version provided by google. So, the mx6 d/q does have a driver for renderscript gpu computing. Maybe vivante can provide the driver?
thanks a lot
