iMX8M Mini Flashing Empty eMMC

Hello,

I am planning to use a custom board with IMX8M Mini SoC. This board would have a empty eMMC without any images flashed on it. I want to flash Android images (android_p9.0.0_2.3.0_image_8mmevk) including the bootloaders, Kernel, system, etc images in the blank eMMC on this board.

I have below question regarding the process:
1. Will UUU be enough to flash the empty eMMC? Or is their another method/utility required for flashing an empty eMMC?
2. I am planning to use USB Type C on board for flashing the images from a Linux based PC. Will this connection (USB Type A on PC -> USB type C on board, same as in IMX8M Mini EVK) work for flashing the images or do I need to use JTAG or some other method for first time flashing?

Hi Naman

1. UUU will be enough, from sect.5 Programming Images Android™ User's Guide :

"The following download methods can be used to write the Android System Image:
• UUU to download all images to the eMMC/SD card.
• fsl-sdcard-partition.sh to download all images to the SD card.
• fastboot_imx_flashall script to download all images to the eMMC/SD storage."

2. yes it will work, jtag is not needed.

So just to confirm my understanding, UUU tool will flash an empty eMMC and perform all the provisioning/partitioning ?
