i.mx8 I2C bus speed

I have a SM bus device running at 100KHz but otherwise the same as an I2C device - is there a way to slow the I2C bus down to be able to use this device?

this is possible, depending on used part: for i.MX8M one can change

clock frequency in CCM (sect.5.1 Clock Control Module (CCM)),
