Greetings,

SATA specification demands capability of 1.5 A current transfer on each parallel power pin. This totals up to a 4.5A current requirement at its height for the 5V supply. The step up converter used by the Sabre board for smart devices (MAX8815) should not be able to supply this demand. Plus the main supply to the board is coming from a 5V 5A adapter. How is it possible to confirm to the SATA specification when the PS to the connector can only supply 1A to a 4.5A demanding component? Am I mistaken or misinterpreting something? Please clarify this.

Thanks in advance,

Mete

Hi Atilla

I believe you are right, sabre design does not fully satisfy sata

power supply current capability, however this may be easily fixed using

more powerful supply.

Best regards
