Connecting MIPI-CSI2 to custom FPGA camera front end without D-PHY on either side?

Hi, everyone,

I'm trying to design a system that uses FPGA as digital front end and use MIPI-CSI2 to receive data on IMX6.

The connection of the two is short and is on the same PCB. And the connection does not to be completely MIPI-CSI2 compliant.

Is it possible and recommended to connect IMX6 to the FPGA directly via MIPI-CSI2 without D-PHY in between?

seems this is possible, however electrical specifications given in

sect.4.11.12 MIPI D-PHY i.MX6DQ Datasheet (rev.4, 7/2015) should be observed
