Hi,

I am new to programming TWR-K40X256 and wanted to participate in freescale cup competition. I want to connect line scan camera with TWR-K40X256.I have two elevator modules, one serial module and line scan camera. Do I need additional board to connect the camera with TWR-K40X256 board? Where exactly do I have to connect the connector(CLK, SI, AOUT, GND and VDD) from camera? The details of the camera can be found here:  Line Scan Camera Board

Thanks.

If you are using the Tower system you are going to have to do a little wiring.  There are two ideal spots you can tap into the Tower board.  First, on the side of the TWR-ELEV are some headers that are good spots.  The other option is to get a TWR-PROTO board and use that.  (Requires some soldering.)

As for the where exactly to connect.  That is really arbitrary.  There are many pins on an MCU that do the same thing.  CLK and SI need to be connected to a timer pin (FTM).  AOUT needs to be connected to an Analog to Digital pin (A2D).  GND is ground and VDD is 5V.

This is not exactly the same board but contain some really useful videos great for a newbie that might help:

Hi John, I have discussed with my professor and he told me to use prototyping board. I have looked at the documents for TWR-PROTO and I think it needs soldering as you have said.  My question is now, is there any other board as can be seen on the attached picture to avoid soldering, as my professor is not happy about soldering?

No way around soldering if you are using the Tower kit.  If you look at your photo of the above the TWR-PROTO is that black board near the rear of the car.  That picture actually has a fair bit of custom work done.

If you want a solderless option I would suggest our newest kit, but it is based around the FRDM platform, not the Tower.  It eliminates a lot of the need for wiring.

You would only need two pieces to swap out of your existing kit.  Instead of the TWR-XXX you would use FRDM-KL25Z.  And instead of the blue rectangular motor control board you would plug the new FRDM motor control shield into it.

I will put you in touch with your regional University Program contact to discuss further.
