dear Peter

I have a PEmicro so I will try with this.

Can I modify the source and compile and download the Pre-downloaded FW for S32K358 BMS EVK ?

Could you shared the documents for this ?

Thanks,
Bryan

Hello,

Can I modify the source and compile and download the Pre-downloaded FW for S32K358 BMS EVK ?

Yes

Could you shared the documents for this ?

Yes. Simply follow the start up guide.

Here is the SW installation guide:

https://community.nxp.com/pwmxy87654/attachments/pwmxy87654/S32K/31702/1/BMS_SWInstalationGuide_Appl...

Also for loading SW into the device you can follow HOW-TOs for S32DS:

https://community.nxp.com/t5/S32-Design-Studio-Knowledge-Base/S32DS-list-of-HOWTOs/ta-p/1113475

Not sure if you are asking for loading code into the device flash or guidance for SW modification. (but SW services are separate and can be requested via NXP web site / support)

Best regards,

Peter

Hello,

The EVB has JTAG connector:

Debug Interface Options on the S32K358 BMS EVK

The board supports debugging via:

  • JTAG/SWD interface (standard for ARM Cortex-M)
  • Serial UART (for FreeMASTER GUI and basic communication)
  • TPL Gateway (for battery cell monitoring chains)

Please refer to the user guide:

https://www.nxp.com/document/guide/getting-started-with-the-hvbmsct800bun-reference-design-bundle:GS...

Recommended Debuggers:

PEmicro Debug Probes

  • USB Multilink Universal FX – High-speed USB debugger for ARM Cortex-M devices.
  • Cyclone LC / Cyclone FX – Standalone in-circuit programmers with automation support.
  • These support JTAG and SWD protocols and are compatible with S32K358.

Lauterbach TRACE32

  • Supports multicore debugging, FreeRTOS awareness, and task scheduling visualization.
  • Recommended hardware: PowerDebug PRO or PowerTrace.
  • Software modules needed:
    • Cortex-M7 support
    • FreeRTOS awareness
    • Multicore trace (optional)
  • NXP recommends contacting Lauterbach directly for optimal configuration

Best regards,

Peter
