S32G GMAC not support 802.1AS

Hi experts,

I noticed that S32G GMAC support 802.1AS. But when I tried to test gPTP on S32G GMAC, it failed.

The reason is that the timestamp got from the network card does not change. As you can see from the figure below:

Use my tool get PTP timestamp from GMAC network card every 5 seconds, but the getting timestamp does not change.

The Kernal Version is

AutocoreJin_1-1702531142895.png

And the PTP option is opened。

Is there anything I forgot to do which is necessary for 802.1AS? How can gPTP work correct on S32G GMAC?

Thanks,

Jin

Hello, @AutocoreJin

We feel very sorry for the delay.

Seems the GMAC PTP is unfunctional, I have the following two suggestions for the issue:

  1. You could try the BSP39, there may be no issues on this version.
  2. If still using the old BSP, may reference the attached workaround patch.

Let me know if it helps.

Hi Chenyin,

Can you please share the link of the BSP39? I can only see BSP38 on the "automotive software package manager".
Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,
Jim

Hi zhengxiang jin

Hope you re doing well

you can get information for PTP Support is mentioned under BSP User Manual section. you did't mentioned bsp version that you are using.
I.e bsp 38 -> information for is mentioned under bsp User Manual section 8.

Hi Tushar,

Thank you for your response!

My using BSP version is 36.

And I read the S32G2_LinuxBSP_36.0_User_Manual 1.pdf. I use ptp4l and try to do time sync but it still does not work.

As you can see, the offset is so huge and do not become smaller.

Do you have any idea about this problem

Best Regards,
Jin
