Build variable not usable in external tools configuration

I'm trying to automate running Seggers Ozone by putting the build configuration in a variable. 

And then using it in an external tool configuration:

This yields the following error: 

Hardcoding the value is not what I want, how do I fix this?

thanks for report, I can reproduce your issue. It looks that manually added Env/Build variables aren't visible for Eclipse system. I'll create JIRA ticket for that. Unfortunately I didn't found any workaround - looks that even OS environment variables aren't visible for External tool config.
