Hi Andy,

About “Mask-independent part number indicates EOL?”)

No, by “last available version” I thought newest maskset revision. Sorry for confusing statement.

New MCU could contain some number bugs in design (see errata list). New revision typically fixes one or more of these bugs. New revision will have higher first number in maskset. For example 1M48H is typically newer than 0M48H and it typically contains less bugs.

Additionally most of automotive parts are produced at two different factories (for prevention against any outage). Maskset name differs between factories even when both MCUs share the same design.

When you buy part with Mask-independent part number, you cannot choose which of masksets (1M48H, 0M48H or maskset from second factory) will be delivered.

For more confusing, there may exist also part numbers with firmware revisions like A, B,…

For more details, please look at:

I hope it helps you.

Have a great day,
RadekS

Hi Andy,

S or SC = Maskset specific partnumber

MC = Generic / mask-independent partnumber

P or PC = prototype status (pre qualification)

Maskset specific part number is one of requirements typical for automotive industry – You always get the same device during whole life time of product.

Mask-independent part number presets typically the last available version of MCU mask.

I hope it helps you.

Have a great day,
RadekS

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately this question is out of me expertise (technical support).

In general, price depends on produced amounts, temperature range, packaging (tape and reel (R at end of part number) is cheaper than tray), type of package (QFP80 is cheaper than LQFP144), …

I hope it helps you.

Have a great day,
RadekS
