Does the LS1046 support RS232, RS422 or RS485 in terms of signalling and protocol?
Electrically a PHY will be required to translate logic levels to line voltages ...
LS1046A has 4 signals for UART (UART_TX, UART_RX, UART_RTS, UART_CTS).
LS1046ARDB has an RS232 transceiver which is further connected to the DB9 connector.
RS422 and RS485 have different voltage levels than RS232.
Functionally, LS1046A supports these protocols. For signaling and protocol, level translators and transceivers will have to be used as per requirement.
