I am not sure what do you mean as “option to keep track of current time”. The P1022 has timebase and global timer facilities which can be used to implement system time count. But it cannot count when power is off. So it is better to use external real-time clock device with SPI or I2C interface to get/set time. For example P1022RDK board has separate RTC device (M41T62Q6F) with lithium rechargeable coin battery. It is connected to the P1022 I2C.
