Hi there,

we have a board with an i.MX6SX. We use the MC32PF3000A5EP as a PMIC for this board. This specific PMIC has availability problems at the moment. When I look in the datasheet of the PF3000 I see that the MC33PF3000A5ES and the MC34PF3000A5ES are also viable options. The only difference I can find is that the latter 2 are automotive and industrial grade resp.

When I use the product selector for PMIC's (https://www.nxp.com/products/product-selector:PRODUCT-SELECTOR#/category/c757_c1820_c219) these latter 2 are not available when I select the i.MX6SX as a processor. Is this just an error in the selector or can I safely use these components interchangeably?

Best regards,

Jeroen van der Laan

Hi Jeroen van der Laan,

Yes, you can use the MC33PF3000A5ES and the MC34PF3000A5EP interchangeable replacements for the MC32PF3000A5EP. I would recommend the MC34PF3000A5EP (Industrial), because it shares the same package as the MC32PF3000A5EP (consumer), while the MC33PF3000A5ES (automotive) have a little different package (wettable flank).

Maybe the reason why you cannot find them in the product selector when i.MX6SX is selected, is because A5 programmed version is for the i.MX6SL as you can see in table 1 of the PF3000 datasheet: https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/data-sheet/PF3000.pdf

Programmed versions A3 and A4 are made for i.MX6SX.

Regards,

Jose

Thanks Jose,

the confusion for me is that that the MC32PF3000A5EP does show up as an i.MX6SX compatible PMIC in the product selector where the MC33 and MC34 counterparts do not. I notice that the product selector indicates that the MC33/MC34 parts do not have a boost regulator, this does not show in the data sheet (as far as I can see). I presume the boost regulator is there, can you confirm that?

Is it possible to change this in the product selector to prevent confusion for future users?

Best regards,

Jeroen van der Laan
