PCA9450 MEMS Oscillator Support

Hello,

Does the PCA9450A support a MEMS oscillator as we are unable to use a crystal.

If not what are the downsides of using the internal RC oscillator within the PCA9450A.

Is the CLK_32K_OUT pin, that feeds the processor, purely to save on components?

The PCA9450A crystal driver is not designed to accept an external clock signal like a MEMS oscillator. It is specifically a crystal oscillator driver, not a general-purpose clock input. It expects a passive crystal, not an active clock source.

The internal RC oscillator is typically less accurate and may drift more with temperature.

Yes, it helps save BOM cost and PCB space by integrating this clock into the PMIC itself.
