Hi,

I am trying to start reflector on my P4080DS board. As I mentioned in the SDKv1.7 documentation, I tried to run the script SOURCE_THIS under root, but it gives the error as below:

Also, when I checked config files under /usr/etc for the board, I found the following four

usdpaa_config_p4_serdes_0x10.xml

usdpaa_config_p4_serdes_0xe.xml

usdpaa_config_p4_serdes_0x16.xml

usdpaa_config_p4_serdes_0xe_offline_host.xml

I even gave the memory for usdpaa under bootargs, like usdpaa_mem=256M, then also this error was coming.

Also could you please suggest how to resolve this error, and which config file to use with reflector and when?

Which RCW are you using on your target board? Serdes 0x16, 0x10 or 0xe?

Please choose an appropriate fmc configuration file according to RCW on your target, then run them following commands.

If the further assistance is needed, please share your u-boot boot log.

Hi Yiping,

I dont know which RCW is loaded on to the board, as I was using what came with the board itself. So I tried with all the config files i.e, 0x10, 0xe, 0x16, 0xe_offline. For all them it gives same error as above "Invocation of port failed, failed to load configuration".

As I was not able to figure out the RCW I am using, after your reply,I loaded rcw_13g_1500mhz_rev3.bin which is Serdes 0x10 and edited the script file SOURCE_THIS to use config for 0x10. Then also it was giving same error.

First of all, please update u-boot and FMAN ucode with images from SDK 1.7.


Please add bootargs "usdpaa_mem=256M bportals=s0-1 qportals=s0-1", this is not related with this error, but it is needed to run USDPAA application.


I suggest you to use serdes 0xe RCW to run USDPAA application, the configuration files for 0xe have already been tested. I also verified 0x10 xml configuration on my target, it seems that it doesn't match 13G RCW configuration, if you want to  use 13G RCW, you need to modify usdpaa_config_p4_serdes_0x10.xml according to your current configuration.


I attached the reflector log for serdes 0xe.

Hi Yiping,

As you suggested, we updated our system with all the images from SDK 1.7, but still we are facing the same issue.

Our P4080DS board was delivered with Freescale sch-24801 REV A2 extension board connected to Slot #3.

We don't have any physical 10g interfaces but it was being displaced on both our u-boot and linux. Is it based only on RCW configuration?

FYI, we are using  rcw_2sgmii_1500mhz_rev3.bin from SDK 1.7. Do we need 10g physical interface to run the test?

Hi Yiping,

The reflector show that it uses two 1G ports and two 10G ports. But I dont think my system has any 10G ports.

Basically, I am trying to improve the performance of my P4080DS system, as there was some loss in the packets sent out of the board and this is not reflected anywhere in DPA counters or BMI counters.Even the tx errors in ifconfig show as 0, but the there is packet loss.

I am trying to figure out on how to change the PCD policy, so that it may probably improve the performance of sending packets without any loss.

Could you please suggest what could be the better policy and RCW for my system.

Hi Yiping,

It is working now, after I started using the default images from SDK1.7.

Earlier I was using dtb for USDPAA only,but even then issue was coming, the only difference was the change in kernel image related to kernel timer interrupt frequency.

I dont know why this should cause any issue with USDPAA but after I revert back to the default pre-built binaries, it is working.
