Hi NXP,

I want to ask that when INTA pin of the gate driver GD3162 is used for VCE RTRPT, then it shows a logic high in case whenever power device is on and a logic low whenever power device is off ( including delays like t_RTRPT_DLY and t_DESAT_LEB ).But if this is the case what is the use of monitoring the VCE? Because the triggering of DESAT fault already does tell us that whether desaturation has occurred or not / whether PWM has been disabled or not. In this case what exactly is the use of monitoring VCE? And please clarify that VCE only monitors the logic high or logic low state of INTA and not the actual voltage at VCE. In the attached diagram we can see that VCE is getting decreased to a lower voltage and simultaneously VCE reported to INTA is going to a logic high. Please clarify as this is urgent for our project.

Hello Anand,

When INTA/RTRPT is configured for real-time VCE reporting (RTRPT = 1, RTMON_CFG = 1), the pin does not directly measure the voltage at VCE. Instead, it reports the state of VCE as seen at the DESAT pin.

If VCE (or VDS) is above the DESAT threshold, the INTA/RTRPT pin is pulled logic low, indicating that the power device is OFF.

If VCE (or VDS) is below the DESAT threshold, the INTA/RTRPT pin is actively pulled logic high, indicating that the power device is ON.

You are correct that a DESAT fault already detects desaturation and disables PWM when necessary. However, VCE monitoring via INTA/RTRPT provides additional real-time visibility into the device state, which can be useful in diagnostics and system control.

For more information, please take a closer look at our AN13129 (Secure file requiring an NDA), chapter "Real=time monitoring on INTA".

BRs, Tomas
