I can only comment for the NTAG SmartSensor ICs, i.e. the NHS3100 and the NHS3152.
The UK suffix indicates the package used is the WLCSP25 (2.51x2.51x0.5 mm):
This is not a human-solder-friendly package, to put it mildly.
For a thesis, you're far better off using the HVQFN24 package (4x4x0.85 mm):

The NHS31xx IC can be used both powered and passive. The energy from the RF field is harvested and can be used to power the complete IC (at 1.85V, if I'm not mistaken). In passive mode, all HW blocks and PIOs are functional.
We label the ICs as being semi-passive: a battery is typically used for unattended monitoring, but the energy harvesting feature guarantees full data readout even in case of a battery failure.
