Hello,

In the ARM world there are many strange acronyms for things that are natural in other microcontrollers.

One is "[B]NVIC[/B]".

[B]What is the difference between my old 8086 and Cortex-M0 or M3[/B] [B]?[/B]

It is not a comparison, but here I found a document explaining the operation.

Blogs/Webs recommendations that have tutorials on ARM (M0/M3) are welcome.

The ibm pc and most other 8088/8086 based computers used the Intel 8259 PIC. IV was the interrupt vector. In the Cortex world the NVIC is the nested vector interrupt Controller. The acronym forthecARM7 escapes me at the moment. I dont understand why you think it is strange - no stranger than the Z80 pio,dart and sio or the 6532 RIOT!
The cortex still has interrupt vectors and the NVIC is similar the the 8259 PIC. So exactly what is the issue?

The ARM website has documents about migrating from different micro-processors to the ARM.
