I am reading documentation on the LPC55 SB2.1 recovery image load from SPI Flash - My company wishes to use this system for field updates.

Once the SPI Flash recovery from an SB2.1 image is complete, does the MCU automatically run the new image, or is a physical reset required?

Hi

Reset is not needed.

But you need make sure SB2.1 file is stored  in SPI Flash and secure boot is enabled if using SPI flash recovery feature.

Have a nice day,
