Kinetis K24 Clock

Hello all,

I am working on the NXP K24 clock. I see that there are multiple clocks available to choose from. While the reference manual does give some description about the clocks, it is very generic.

I did not find a document explaining me the exact use of each of these clocks. 

Can somebody explain to me the use case of each of these clocks? I have listen them below. 

1. MCGIRCLK
2. MCGFFCLK
3. Core/System Clocks
4. Bus clock
5. FlexBus clock
6. Flash Clock
7. MCGPLLCLK/MCGFLLCLK
8. OSCERCLK
9. ERCLK32K
10. LPO
11. RTC_CLKOUT

   About the use case of each clock, in fact, you can refer to the MK24 reference manual , Chapter 5 Clock Distribution.

   5.4 Clock definitions, this chapter told you each clock usage.

   Table 5-2. Module clocks, told you each module clock situation.

   Please read the MK24 reference manual clock distribution chapter at first.

Thank you for your response. 

I did find that table helpful. 

Can you please let me know the difference between bus interface clock, internal clock and I/o interface clock in that table?

Hi Sachin Mathad,

  You are welcome!

   Bus interface clock, you can consider the related module register control clock.

   Internal clocks, you can consider it as the module clock, now take LPTMR as an example

You can find the LPTMR internal clocks is the module clock.

 I/o interface clock is the clock which is input or output to the related IO pins.
