We have low power device powered with pimary battery and we would like avoid to use voltage regulator because it has own consumption. Selected battery has over 3,6V (around 3,68V at 20°C in open circuit). What MCU for these conditions? Is it OK to use?

Hi Tomas,

From the MKL16Z128VF4 datasheet, we can get that the max data of VDD is 3.6 V.

So we highly recommend the customer use the VDD is in the range of 1.71 to 3.6v, if the voltage is higher, it may cause the chip damaged.

But from my own experience about the lithium battery, the open circuit voltage normally is higher than the closed circuit voltage, if you add the load, the battery voltage may lower than 3.6V. You can try to add your batter to the MKL16, and then test the vdd, whether it is in the range of 1.71 to 3.6V, if yes, you can use it.

Wish it helps you!

Have a great day,
Kerry
