problem aboutMCF52211's RTC module

I want to use mcf52211 to develop one product. I want to use its RTC module,but I hope it can keep running even when VDD,VDDPLL is power down, the mcf52211 has VSTBY pin,so I think use a battery backup power to VSTBY pin. my question is whether the method works?

Hi

The RTC can be used together with 32kHz crystal and battery backup.

Note that the 32kHz crystal shares pins with UART0, meaning that UART0 can no longer be used if the RTC crystal is required. This restriction is removed in the M5225X family, where there are dedicated 32kHz RTC crystal inputs.
