I am new to ColdFire and also looking for a cheap development environment for the chip (MCF5271) on Linux.

Does anybody suggest a solution (hardware/software/driver) to program the chip above, (debugging is optional)

Does bdm.sourceforce.net work with my chip? Which cable needed to flash it?

I plan to use codesourcery toolchains (http://www.codesourcery.com/sgpp/lite/coldfire) to port uClinux on that chip.

Does anyone know (free) a flasher tool runs on Linux?

If I use CF FLasher on WIndows, is it compatible with this P&E device and the toolchains.

Thanks in advance.

there are bdm pod can use in linux, but I never try it. currently, I use BDM burn bootloader into flash under windows host with codewarrior. then use bootloader to download kernelimage.

freescale offers open source BDM for coldfire, and there are also another open source bdm named USBDM. if you are in china mainland, plaease see: http://nicrosystem.taobao.com
