Cannot Not Run Free Version of CodeWarrior Development Studio for Microcontrollers V6.3

I've downloaded CW (I assume its the free version). I had Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit and it ran ok. But since then my hard drive died and had to get a new one, which I loaded with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Of course CW would not install, however I downloaded Windows Virtual PC, along with Windows XP Mode.

I installed CW in Virtual PC XP Mode, but when I try to run it, either in XP Application Mode through Windows 7 or the complete virtualization of Windows XP, I am shown a license error:

"No valid license key was found for this installation of CodeWarrior Development Studio..."

"Cannot checkout an uncounted license within a Windows Terminal Service guest session."

"Feature: Win32_CWIDE_Limited"

"FLEXnet Licensing error: -103,577"

I am a student and we use the Dragon Learner Board (HCS12 Microcontroller) at my University. I would like to have CW running as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Hello

Did you try the link below?

 https://www.freescale.com/webapp/servicerequest.create_SR.framework?regFlag=fromOpenSR

This one is working fine as far as I know.

If you are still unable to access it then you might have a problem with your computer. Can you try on another PC?

Hi I am having the same problem.

The license file that has been provided works but my code size has breached 32k and I am almost done so I am using an evaluation license for a short while. Unfortunately my evaluation license throws the same error.

Please could someone have a look and see if it can be fixed.

Thanks.

I've got the same exact problem.  I'm migrating to a new Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine, and CodeWarrior 6.3 Special Edition won't install, so I try Microsoft's "XP Mode" virtualization, and that lets it install, but then I get the license error when I try to run it.  Here's the contents of my license file:

This is kind of ridiculous Freescale.  64 bit machines have been out forever now, and apparently there's not even a workaround available for users of the special edition.  I realize we're "cheap" for using the free version, but we are at least developing on your hardware.  Without the free development tools, I may as well look to other micro vendors for future projects.

Hi,

I am using the CW same way, I don't know where can be the problem. Before some time I upgraded to windows seven x64 and I installed windows XP mode. I have installed CW Special Edition for Microcontrollers (downloaded from Freescale web). And everything is working fine...

Try to download the latest version (or vice-versa: some older one :smileytongue:) and reinstall it. While there is at least mine working, there have to be way to install it somehow...

Hi Ratislav,

What version do you have installed?

Hello

Can you try with the attached license file instead?

Just rename the file license.dat and copy it in your CodeWarrior installation directory.

Catherine,

I was unable to resolve it any other way. Do you still have the license.dat file?

Thanks,

Chris

I am having the same problem and would like to try the license file you provided but it is no longer attached, probably because this issue is pretty old. Could you dig it up and re-attach or send it to me directly?

Thanks,

Chris

That worked.  Thanks!

Freescale still needs to allow CodeWarrior to install on 64-bit machines, though.  In a few years, it will probably become difficult to get a legal copy of a 32-bit Windows OS.
