GPIO Line Setup

I am new to CodeWarror and Processor Expert.

I need to setup a GPIO line to turn a relay ON/OFF.  Using a MKL36Z128VLL4 and another board using the MKL36Z256VLL4 the line is PC17.  I clicked on the GPIO_LDD and added this to my system but in the Component Inspector it seemed to want each bit configured, not sure the relay is going to understand each bit?  How do I configure this output to send a signal to the relay do I need to use ByteIO or is there a setting in the GPIO_LDD that I missed when configuring this?
