Our customer has old ColdFire project which develop using CodeWarrior IDE version 5.7.1844 and Lauterbach TRACE32 Build4943 JTAG ICE.

Currently they have plan to release miner change version of previous model which using the MCF5207.

Therefore they want to use previous model development resource, but the CodeWarrior 5.7 will not work on the Windows 7.

Then they will upgrade CodeWarrior to classic latest version 7.2 or eclipse version 10.x (10.2 or 10.7).

Here is their questions.

  1. Does the CodeWarrior 7.2 working on the Windows 7 64-bit?
  2. Could the CodeWarrior 7.2 open or import the CodeWarrior 5.7 project?
  3. They understood that the CodeWarrior 10.2 can import classic CodeWarrior project.

Is it include the CodeWarrior 5.7 project?

  1. Could the CodeWarrior 10.7 open the CodeWarrior 10.2 project which imported the CodeWarrior 5.7 project?
  2. Does the CodeWarrior classic 7.2 support the MCF5207?
  3. Does the CodeWarrior eclipse 10.x support the MCF5207?

Please reply as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Takashima

Hi Isao,

Answering your questions:

1.- Does the CodeWarrior 7.2 working on the Windows 7 64-bit?

CodeWarrior 7.2 does not support Windows 7 64-bit but there is below application note that explains how to install it on a 64-bit machine by using a Microsoft Windows XP virtual environment.

http://www.nxp.com/assets/documents/data/en/application-notes/AN3936.pdf

2.- Could the CodeWarrior 7.2 open or import the CodeWarrior 5.7 project?

No, there are many changes between these versions so you will have to first migrate the project from CodeWarrior 6.3 to CodeWarrior 7.1 following this document:

http://cache.nxp.com/assets/documents/data/en/application-notes/TN256.pdf

After that you need to migrate the project from CodeWarrior 7.1 to CodeWarrior 7.2 following this document:

http://cache.nxp.com/assets/documents/data/en/application-notes/TN268.pdf

3.- They understood that the CodeWarrior 10.2 can import classic CodeWarrior project. Is it include the CodeWarrior 5.7 project?

No, you will need to follow above steps and then migrate the project from CodeWarrior 7.2 to CodeWarrior 10.7 directly if preferred. Here is a document that might be helpful:

http://cache.nxp.com/assets/documents/data/en/application-notes/AN4727.pdf

4.- Could the CodeWarrior 10.7 open the CodeWarrior 10.2 project which imported the CodeWarrior 5.7 project?

Yes, CodeWarrior 10.7 can directly import projects from CodeWarrior 10.2 but it is better if you migrate the project directly from CodeWarrior 7.2 to CodeWarrior 10.7.

Please notice that for  all the above project migrations we recommend to import the projects manually, not using any project importer. This is the cleanest way to import a project and it is done by creation a new project in the corresponding CodeWarrior version for the specified device and add/copy all the source and header files to your previous project.

5.- Does the CodeWarrior classic 7.2 support the MCF5207?

Yes.

6.- Does the CodeWarrior eclipse 10.x support the MCF5207?

Yes.

Hope it helps!
