What is the difference between SCI and ESCI ?
I have an application for 908KX8CP but now that it has come to the end of its life i need to replace it with an other MCU. I want to know if 908QB8 is suitable. In my application i use SCI and the operation is 5V.

Hello,

ESCI actually means enhanced SCI, so there should be no problems to operate as a normal SCI.  I believe the enhancement actually refers to the optional ability to handle LIN protocol for automotive use, and the provision of a baud rate prescaler that allows fine adjustment of baud rate.  There is also an "arbiter" facility for measurement of incoming bit period.

These additional facilities don't have to be used if you don't wish to.

Regards,
Mac

Hi periklis
The difference between a SCI and a ESCI block is that ESCI has some enhancements like the name implies. This means, that with a ESCI you can do all the SCI stuff AND ie. baudrate recognition and adjustment etc. So the QB8 could meet your needs.
