08SH8 Crystal

Hi

Im trying to setup my FOXS/040 crystal

a 4Mhz thu hole crystal

its connected to pin 5 and 6

with a 20pF to ground on each pin

Ive use device initialisation to set external clock source with 4 mhz

but the application always stop at the line waiting for crystal initialisation

at scope pin 5 is low and pin 6 is high

nothings is oscillating there

Any idea?

Dear Juls,

Do you have the bias resistor (usually 10M)?

See section 2.2.2 Oscillator (XOSC) of the SH8  data sheet for oscillator component discussion.
