NXP ARM-based processor with Java SE support

Hi all

I am looking for a processor that will run Oracle's Java 8 SE for ARM under a flavour of Linux. It looks like a suitable candidate might be an iMX515, but I cannot find a definite statement. Am I right? If not, which NXP processor families will run Java 8 SE?

Thanks

Stephen Ades

Hello,

Please use the following from Community

All Boards Java

Note, for i.MX6 we should use ARMv7 packages :

Java SE Embedded - Downloads | Oracle Technology Network | Oracle

Have a great day,
Yuri

Hello Yuri.

I don't think that answers my question. All the information you referred to above was about Java SE Embedded. I am interested in Java SE (i.e. the whole JRE). I know that means fitting more memory, but we need it to have the same Java capabilities (including Swing via X windows) as a Java SE application running on an Intel platform has.

If you buy a Raspberry PI (Broadcom ARM Cortex A7 - see Raspberry Pi 2 Model B) or a CubieTruck (Allwinner ARM Cortex A7) you can run full Java 8 SE and full Java applications on it.

Does NXP have a processor that can run full Java SE?

Hello,

Java is supported under i.MX devices as much as (ARM) Linux and corresponding packages

from Oracle provide it. As I see, Oracle does not provide (full) Java SE for ARM architecture.

Regards,

Yuri.
