That's correct. At the moment the CMSIS-DAP firmware does not have serial port capabilities. If you need to use both at the same time, you'd need to use the serial connector on the TWR-SER board.

Note that UART1 is the default serial port in most software, and is connected to the OpenSDA circuit. UART2 by default is connected to the TWR-SER. So you would need to either change the UART used in software, or configure the jumpers on the Vybrid tower board to change the default UART configuration (J23 and J24)

Hello soichiyamamoto

All rev G Tower Vybrid boards already have OpenSDA firmware in it.

All revs (except rev A) have CMSIS‐DAP firmware loaded.

Could you let me know which rev is your tower board?

Are you having problems to get connected to your tower board?

Thanks,

Ioseph

Sorry Soichi san. I need to check first how we are distributing the CMSIS-DAP firmware for Vybrid because is not available to the public yet. I will get back to you on Monday due many people is out because US Holiday.

Meanwhile can you answer: Your board is supposed to be loaded with the CMSIS-DAP firmware already. Are you having problems? why you need the firmware?

Dear ioseph_martinez,

Thank you very much for your help.

I want to use DS5.

I can not update CMSIS-DAP as follows.

Because, I do not have CMSIS-DAP.s19. and It is not “Jump Start Your Design” located at freescale.com/TWR-VF65GS10.

---------

●Quick Start Guide

 Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

 Step7:

To start debugging with DS-5,the OpenSDA firmware needs to be updated with the CMSIS-DAP application. For more detail, please refer to the “Jump Start Your Design” documentation located at freescale.com/TWR-VF65GS10.

Hello Soichi-san,

Sorry I was out of office for a couple of days.

I tried freescale.com/TWR-VF65GS10 and downloaded the following zip file:

http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/software/board_support_packages/TWR-VF65GS10-QSP.zip

Unzip the file and check Launch\OpenSDA\ there is CMSIS-DAP.S19 there.

Hope this helps.

Ioseph

Hi Ioseph,

Thanks for the CMSIS-DAP OpenSDA firmware. I can indeed connect with DS-5 to the Vybrid tower board.

I think serial port and JTAG are mutually exclusive, though. I can have either UART traces or JTAG, but not both. Do you please confirm?

Best regards,

V.
