uboot nand read error after update to 4.1 kernel ?

Am able to boot from nand just fine with 3.14 kernel but after updating to the

4.1 kernel I now get the following uboot error when uboot tries to read the

kernel from NAND:

  NAND read: device 0 offset 0x4000000, size 0x800000

  NAND read from offset 5000000 failed -74

Seems to be a problem with nandwrite and the newer kernel. If I write

the kernel with nandwrite under the 3.14 kernel it works ...

I am using kobs-ng 5.4 and nandwrite from the imx_4.1.15_1.0.0_ga yocto build.
