I am studying "Building and Running CHIP Linux Examples for i.MX 8M Mini EVK"

and I meet some problems.
I finished all the steps before the subtitle "Build the example application" .
In subtitle "Build the example application" ,it describes there are two files named build_example.py and imxlinux_example.sh,
but I can not find these two files. Also I can not find the file "scripts/activate.sh".
I saw there is a statemet as "Assuming that the working directory is changed to the top level directory of this project",
is the directory means "xwayland"?
Also, do I need to input the command "git submodule update --init"? What does this command mean?
