linux-imx branchs for kernel 5.x?

linux-imx: Linux Kernel provided and supported by NXP with focus on i.MX Family Ref-erence Boards. It includes support for many IPs such as GPU, VPU and IPU.

Does anyone have an answer?

We are currently working on branch like 4.9-2.3.x-imx. We add specific video chips into /drivers/media/platform/mxc.

Today we see that the linux 5.x branches are for "mainline" kernel where the IPU management seems to be on /drivers/staging/media/imx.

Anyone can tell us if the linux-imx we are using today will be available in a near future for 5.x?

More generally, anyone can explain why there are 2 different kernels?

The following thread may be of use. There are two kernels, one of the Community BSP which is part of the Yocto Project, and a BSP Release Kernel, which is the one provided by NXP with support for their boards.

to be more accurate the linux-imx branchs I am talking are the kernels where the IPU management is done into drivers/media/platform/mxc (like on 4.9-2.3.x-imx branch). The linux-fscl kernels seems to be "mainline" kernels

There are some kernel 5.x branches created already for the Community BSP, albeit in different development stages as for example:

If you are looking for the repositories of the i.MX BSP Releases those would be on the following repositories, with support for Kernel 5.x available sometime soon (we do not have a public date available as of today).
