Hi,
I have ported Linux 3.7-rc4 to an board with an i.MX257 CPU. A display is connected via LVDS.
The used distribution is Debian Sqeeze for armel.
Until I have started XOrg I have no output on screen, no Linux Tux symbol and no text console.
If I start XOrg I have a correct output, when I terminate XOrg I have an text console.
How to show the Linux Tux and/or the Text console before XOrg starts?
The kernel command line includes "video=imxfb:LCD-SVGA-10-4".
Is another command line string necessary?
Thanks
Stefan Koch

I'm pretty sure that it is a build option for the kernel under drivers->graphics support->bootup logo to enable the Tux, and there is another option near there to enable the text console.
Thank you.
Both options are still enabled.
The black screen must be another issue.
Is fbcon the module that shows the Tux and boot messages - or show's it only the login prompt?
With black screen there is no vsync and hsync signal.
This will enabled first when starting X11.
What could be the issue?
Thank you
Stefan
