Hi all,

did several measurements and soldering/desoldering on a custom boards, experiencing now imxq6p that goes very hot in abt 5 seconds at boot, so it looks to me as damaged. Luckily i have multiple boards, but it's the first time it's happen. Could the imx6qp be damaged ? If yes, as it seems, what could be possible causes ?

Thanks

angelo

Hello Angelo Dureghello,

Excessive manipulation may indeed damage the chip package, which is true for any component. Most i.MX6 part numbers withstand tree reflow cycles provided that the JEDEC standards are followed. You may find more information regarding the soldering limits on AN3298 (link below).

http://cache.freescale.com/files/microcontrollers/doc/app_note/AN3298.pdf

Other kind of damages may also occur like ESD damage.

I hope this helps!

Regards,
