iMX8MPLUS SWUpdate

Hi Team,

We are working on iMX8MPLUS for our development.

We are trying to implement Software update in the iMX8MPLUS.

We added SWUpdate meta layer to yocto. 

We stuck after that.

Any one know how to use SWUpate to update kernel, dtb and rootfs in iMX8MPLUS.

I hope you are doing well.

After integrating meta-swupdate in yocto, One can make changes to kernel and dts using patches.

For Example, one can refer to patches at swupdate_yocto_patches_08152022.tgz which consist of various patches related to swupdate customization,kernel etc..

After applying changes one can execute the below command to generate .swu file

$ DISTRO=<distro name> MACHINE=<machine name> source imx-setup-release.sh -b <build dir>

$ bitbake swupdate-image    // for single copy image

One can refer to documents at SWUpdate OTA i.MX8MM EVK / i.MX8QXP MEK for more information.

We refer the same document for our development ( SWUpdate OTA i.MX8MM EVK / i.MX8QXP MEK)

In this document, referred the Yocto BSP version L5.4.50-2.30 .

We are using the latest version L5.15.71-2.2.0.

The patch files you suggested is also with respect to the version L5.4.50-2.30.

Is there any updated patch files for the New Yocto BSP version L5.15.71-2.2.0.??

Also in the readme.txt, it is written that only 2 patch files to apply. Is that correct??

Please guide us on the same.

The patch files are available are for L5.4..50. Not able to apply to new version L5.15.71-2.2.0

Can we get the patch files for latest version L5.15.71-2.2.0.???

Patch files for L5.15.71-2.2.0. kernel version is not made available yet.

Also in the readme.txt, it is written that only 2 patch files are to apply. Is that correct??

[Ans]: All other patches are needs to be applied in order as suggested in readme.txt.

          But as suggested in readme.txt, you need to choose between the below patches according to requirements.      

         2. pick up      2000-u-boot-append-emmc-LF_v5.10.9_1.0.0.patch   // when using emmc
             or 2000-u-boot-append-LF_v5.10.9_1.0.0.patc

         3. pick up      3000-build-conf-LF_v5.10.9_1.0.0.patch(apply after create a build)
             or 3001-imx-setup-release.sh-LF_v5.10.9_1.0.0.patch
